How much yarn is needed for this project?

I see the deadline is far gone past, but I want you to know I am going to use your pattern to donate the hats to our enlisted servicemen and women overseas. I “inherited” a lot of browns and tans and olive green yarn with nothing to do with it all. Thanks, I now have my own mission.

I see I have missed the deadline for this. Can I still send hats? I have made many hats here for the homeless for the winter and would like to donate half to your project.

Project Hope isn’t’ accepting any more hats, as they are leaving for Colombia in just a couple of days. We will be doing this project again next spring. 🙂

if they do not accept them, we are collecting Hats and scarfs for the Dixie Fire people whom lost their homes and all their clothes and belongings. Hand knitted or crochet hats and such are very welcomed. feel free to email me at leg65rb@gmail.com for further information.

      Sincerely

Drat 🙁 Today is May 15th and I have just discovered your blog 🙂 I will keep a look out in case you do something similar for 2016. However, I knit more than I crochet so hope knitted beanies will be acceptable.

I finished my first mens’ beanie cap today. I used I Love This Yarn in navy blue. I enjoyed it very much.

I have some denim blue colored yarn. Would this color work for the hats? Just checking before I get started!
    Thanks!

Those pattern is extremely small not sure how it could fit adult head. I made two and they can no way fit an adult.

I made one and had the same issue. I increased my hook size to a j and then did a row of 2 sc and sc in next 6 stitches after the row of 2 sc and sc in next 5 stitches. It fits my hubby great. The small one fits my 3 year old:)

I am working on my “3rd” hat and I think the pattern is great.
Rows 1-21 are worked in half double crochet (HDC or hdc) . Rows 22-25 are worked in SC in each St around. This makes a larger hat and it is long enough to turn up if needed. HDC also adds more streach in the finished hat. I hope this is helpful. Loxieloug

My daughter works in DC. One holiday season I made hats and scarves, placed them in a zip lock bag With a small Christian tract. when she got off the train in the district she handed a package to a homeless, cold person.

    We all were blessed.

Well done all of you! Here in Kent, England, we knit hats and scarves for the Seafarers’ Mission. We import so much (more than we should) & the seafarers are poorly paid, far from their families and find our English weather very trying. We make brightly coloured beanies, so they can be seen easily on deck. X
