This pattern was originally published on my previous blog, Little Monkeys Crochet.
Let me just say: before you attempt this pattern, make sure you’re familiar with the Chainless Foundation Stitch. This is a looooooooooong scarf and I KNOW you don’t want to sew into that many chains. So if you haven’t yet, go learn the secret of chainless foundation!

If you love the yarn I used (Hometown USA by Lion Brand) but don’t know where to find it, you can buy it at Craftsy.com! They often have it on sale. (Disclosure: I am a part of the Craftsy Affiliate Program, and at no additional cost to you, I will earn a small commission if you decide to make a purchase. Please know that I would never recommend you something that I do not use myself.) 🙂
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get started on this super easy, super adorable skinny scarf…
TRIPLE LOOP SKINNY SCARF
Hook: N (9.00mm)
Yarn: Bulky or Super Bulky (I used Lion Brand’s “Hometown USA” in Grand Rapids Green)
Difficulty: Easy
Gauge: Unimportant (just crochet til it’s the length you want. There’s quite a bit of leeway with a scarf anyway.)
SCARF INSTRUCTIONS:
Round 1: Beginning with your DC Chainless Foundation Stitch (FDC), FDC until you reach about 7 feet (84″), or until scarf is the length you want it when wrapped around your neck 3 times. Connect with Slip Stitch at top of first DC, being careful to not twist it in the process.
Rounds 2-3: Ch2 (counts as first DC). DC in each stitch around. Connect with Slip Stitch at top of first DC.
Fasten off; weave in ends.
WRAP PIECE INSTRUCTIONS:
Row 1: Beginning with your DC Chainless Foundation Stitch (FDC), FDC 19.
Rows 2-3: Ch2 (Counts as first DC), turn. DC in next stitch and each stitch across (19).
Edging: Ch 1; turn. SC around the entire piece, adding an extra SC at each corner. Connect to first SC with Slip Stitch.
Fasten off; weave in ends.
Sew 1.5″ button onto one end of Wrap Piece. (Exact button size is not important as long as it is small enough to fit through the holes of the DC stitches and large enough to not slip back through and come undone.)
I gifted the green scarf shown above before I had a chance to take many photos, so I whipped up another Wrapper Piece to show you what it will look like. This one is done in the same yarn, but in Dallas Grey.
To Wear: Wrap Skinny Scarf around your neck 3 times, then take Wrap Piece and wrap it around all three layers; secure by slipping button through one of the DCs on its opposite end.
Enjoy!
Beautiful Scarf. Love the idea of loop on the scarf.
Just finished this project and I LOVE how it turned out! Thank you so much for sharing a great pattern!
Beautiful scarf. Thank you for the patt. How many skeins of the Lion Brand’s “Hometown USA” in Grand Rapids Green)= did you use to make this scarf? (I’ve made the sc foundation before, but haven’t taken the time to try the other stitches made this way. Thinks for waking me up to try those also!) Question: If I email you the instructions on how to make some never-before seen stitch combos, would you be willing to make a tutorial on your site showing how to make these and also giving me credit in the video for these stitches? I don’t have any way to do a video. I can also share two patterns using these stitches – two scarves and matching caps.
I used just a bit more than 2 skeins. Regarding the video tutorials, I don’t think I would be able to do that, sorry 🙂
Thank you for quick reply! I just finished making this scarf out of a 3.5 oz skein of variegated navy blue (Red Heart Worsted Weight with hook sz I) It’s five rounds of dc, and it took the rest of it to make the strap. It’s almost 3″ wide, strap is 8.5″ long, 206 dc long. I just guessed at making it 7′, after blocking it though, it measures a little over 8′ and I love how it turned out and was wanting something different to use this yarn on! I would post a pic of it here, but I don’t see anywhere to do it.
I need one more just to finish the sc around the wrap piece.
This is so cute! I have some Hometown USA in my stash already, so I am ready to go – I might even make it in two colors. Thanks for the pattern!
I’ve been looking for a unique scarf pattern for my niece. I think this one will be perfect!
Love the idea of the loop on the scarf.
Love this pattern! Works up quickly and looks beautiful worn.
Love this pattern! Thanks!
Used this as an idea for all the strands my son was finger knitting! He made a scarf for his grandma!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Amazing -thanks for sharing ! First time I have ever tried the foundation chain and I love it. Made this scarf with Betnat softee chunky yarn in True Grey and it took just under a 100 gram ball. Super fast and easy
Love this scarf! Thanks for sharing!
Love the way you have done the chain less foundation stitch, me I am just starting so it looks very complicated to me.
But I will try and persevere with it!!
I am attempting to do your ‘Apple Crisp Cowl’ so wish me luck with that one, I never start thing easy (but that’s me all over) two left feet as my hubby says.
