Getting ready for an upcoming craft fair?
Sometimes it can feel overwhelming coming up with just the right items to fill your table… especially if it’s your first fair!
So here are a few tips for deciding what to sell. At the end, I’ll share with you the five best-selling Yarn + Chai patterns for craft fairs!
But first, the tips..
Tip #1: Smaller purchases add up!
It’s ok to have a few bigger ticket items on your table, like a blanket or wrap, but for the most part your sales are going to come from items in a lower price range. Plus, it’s easier to crochet multiple samples of something in various colors when it’s a small item, giving your customers more options.
Tip #2: Instead of filling your table with dozens and dozens of different patterns, consider choosing 6-10 items and crocheting several of each one in a range of colors.
Do a few in neutrals (like ivory or gray) and a few in more colorful hues (like cranberry or mustard or forrest green). Think of when you shop for clothes at the store; the clearance racks, where random pieces of clothing are all mixed together, are more overwhelming to sort through. But a rack filled with the same sweater offered in multiple colors feels relaxing and increases the likelihood that you’ll find just the right one for you. Don’t make your customers work too hard, or you’ll lose them!
Tip #3: When choosing what to sell, think of what shoppers will be looking for at that time of year.
If it’s a fall craft show, they’ll probably be looking for small gifts for teachers or friends, holiday home decor, or maybe a scarf or hat for the upcoming winter. In the spring and summer, you can turn your focus to cute bags, kitchen items, and holidays like Easter and Independence Day (for my American friends).
